How to Become a Heritage Volunteer
NADFAS Heritage Volunteers are:
- Members of NADFAS who give their time to help preserve our heritage
- People with commitment, discipline & enthusiasm
- People who have the ability to work as part of a team
- People who find the work stimulating and rewarding
There are NADFAS Societies all over the country, many with Heritage Volunteer groups. To find your nearest Society visit our Join Us! Section. Societies with a Heritage Volunteering Group are indicated by the letters 'HV'.
You do not have to belong to a Society to be a member of their Heritage Volunteer group - there may be a long waiting list for membership or you might not wish to be a member. In that case you can join NADFAS as a National Member - for details and application form click here.
If you have any problems downloading the application form, please visit Adobe to download a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Training:
Appropriate training is given to all Heritage Volunteers by professional conservators, advisors or curators when working with books, archives and the preventative conservation of textiles in historic houses and in museums.
In addition study days widen experience and knowledge and increase the opportunities for volunteers to be involved. Many projects are long term and require regular commitment.
