EALING DFAS SUPPORTS ‘GLORIOUS GUNNERSBURY!’
In August 2009, local children aged 8-12 years of age attended a free 5-day workshop at Gunnersbury Park Museum. The workshop, led by the museum’s education department, used drama and art to encourage the children to discover Gunnersbury’s illustrious past. The project culminated in a fun, promenade-style performance of a specially written play, ‘Glorious Gunnersbury’. As a lasting memento, the children also created a vibrant collage depicting Gunnersbury’s heritage, now on display within the museum (see image on the right).
Paper Airplane Competition at the Lightbox, Woking
The Lightbox at Woking and the West and East Surrey Areas of NADFAS organised a paper airplane competition during the month of August 2009 to accompany the Da Vinci Inventions exhibition.
Over 200 competitors took part creating the planes out of one sheet of A4 and were judged in five different age categories: under 5s, 6–11 years, 12–16 years, 17–25 years and over 25s. NADFAS and Lightbox volunteers measured the distance travelled. The winners received prizes and free entry to an art workshop at The Lightbox.
